What you and I never realised was that we were never to be materialised.
Stuck in the constructs of maybe, we found reality in fantasy.
You and I dwelt in the certainty of doubt, and finding comfort in denial, we swam in never.
Conversations cloaked in trivialities and clothed in nonsense built us.
Our faces hidden behind screens, we developed an unspoken language.
We've fought against trust.
But what if I said that I heard the sincerity behind your sarcasm? What if I told you that I found you between rebellion and conformity.
If I told you that there was sense and authenticity in a fabricated us, would you delve into a virtual unknown?
You and I have no right to an us.
Illegal concepts and illegitimate understandings have flirted with complexity and given birth to simplicity.
You speaking my thoughts and me comprehending parts of you you'd rather not speak.
No parts of us could realise sense, but you and me in our screened nonsense have created entities so concrete our beings praise the products of our partial misgivings.
Friend is neither you nor me.
We've found a compromise between friend and foe and sit comfortably in no mans land.
The war of our worlds is restless between our shoulders.
Heart and mind finding no place between our spaces, we settle amongst unfortunate fortunes.
Gypsies never had more fun than we did and madmen laughed no harder than we do.
So when you read your fortune amongst the stars and the sun, put my mistakes behind you and look back on our silences.
We've found Utopia in Narnia's shadow, and tolerance stands at the gates with praise.
Hate's shadow has never loved cupid's bastard this much.
Depth and surface have found their common ground.
You and I find us settled between nothing and everything.
